BC Nordic
At B’stro, we’re big fans of British Columbia (the fact that half of us live in Vancouver is a good litmus test of our enthusiasm). So when BC’s own Nordic Marketing Society (BCNMS) needed a new logo design and website to promote cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and backcountry skiing in destinations all over British Columbia, we happily set down our mugs of hot cocoa and prepared to hit the powder.In creating a new logo design, B’stro summoned its inner powderhound and combined a distinct azure, a curved base and a skier silhouette to develop a new brand personality that stays true to BCNMS’ alpine roots.
Enjoyed by Nordic enthusiasts all over British Columbia, BCNMS’ new website provides visitors with general information about Nordic activities in BC. Searching by region and/or activity, visitors can find locations to ski and stay using an integrated Google map with custom ski icons.
To increase traffic to the site, we also designed and incorporated a photo contest into the launch. In addition to serving as a critical marketing initiative, the photo contest provided the organization with an affordable way to create a library of photos—nearly 250 individual snapshots, by contest’s end—that could be used on the website and in print pieces.
BCNMS was extremely pleased with our work, reporting an avalanche of positive feedback on the website’s new look and function from their members, web audience, and other tourist organizations. As the Marketing Society’s parent organization, Tourism BC was so pleased with it our design that they used it as the example during presentations of what is possible under its “Experience BC” program.
